Gustav Elijah Åhr, better known by his stage name Lil Peep, was an American singer and rapper from the emo hip hop genre. He was born on November 1, 1996, in Virginia, USA, but was raised in Long Island, New York, and passed away on November 15, 2017, in Tucson, Arizona, USA, from an alleged overdose of Alprazolam.Lil Peep is considered one of the artists responsible for the revitalization of the post-emo style of music and for creating his own style of hip hop, which came to be known as "emo hip hop." 

Lil Peep attended Long Beach High School in Lido Beach, New York, where he rarely attended classes despite having good grades. He later dropped out of school to take online courses and earn his diploma. Shortly after, he began posting his music videos on YouTube and SoundCloud.

At the age of 17, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to develop their musical career.

Lil Peep growing fanbase appreciated his refreshing honesty about struggles with his sexuality, as well as with depression, anguish, and drug use. Lil Peep came out as bisexual in a Twitter post on ,August 8 2017. He took to Twitter to talk about this aspect of his personal life to his fans. Lil Peep simply said, "Yes, I'm bisexual." Some time later, he followed up with a post asking his fans if any of them wanted a kiss. After coming out as bisexual, he frequently confronted homophobes on Twitter. He was also known for collaborations with iLoveMakonnen, an openly gay recording artist whose music also blurs the line between rap and rock.

 Although many know Lil Peep for his mastery of trap music, few know that his musical career began in a completely different genre. Before achieving success in the rap world, Lil Peep was part of a punk rock band in high school. His admission of his love for rock and pop punk has been noticeable in his music.
